Why do all girls names seem to end in an 'A' ?? Are there any names which dont??

Yes, they do. It's the rule of forming the feminine in Romanian. This rule applies to adjectives, names, etc.

For example, let's take some adjectives:

frumos (beautiful) becomes frumoasa.

ieftin (cheap) becomes ieftina.

And now, let's take some names:

Marian becomes Mariana.

Alexandru becomes Alexandra.

yep, there are lots of names that end in a: laura, mihaela, alexandra, andreea, daniela, andra, elena, ana, maria, marinela ..and the list can go on and on

but there are also names that do not end in a...lets see: ... :cheer: ... Alis, Lili ,Mimi, Jeni , Catrinel , Aglae (although most people say Aglaia ) Stefi, Cati , Beatrice , Nuţi ,Gabi . But all these names are usually shortened names ,or just cuddly names . Course' people choose to put the names officially in their children birth certificate,but this is another story :P Most female names are ending in a though . :cry:

Ok, I see your point :cry: I do notice something else now. Nearly all your female names end with a vowel :cheer:
