The only festival of improvisation theatre in Romania, FIFITUT, this year at its 3rd edition, is an international event, proposed by the Embassy of France, organized by the French Lectorate from the Western University of Timisoara and by the Hexagon Association.

Theatre groups from the main Romanian Universities – Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Sibiu, Timisoara – challenge you to an improvisation competition, while other European groups from Belgium, France, Ukraine and Poland invite you to watch their plays, traditional theatre representations, with a varied and original repertoire, outside the contest.

In the name of cultural diversity, the shows of the two sections of the festival will be held in French. The intent of the organizers is to give to the public of Timisoara an event that enhances the cultural offer of the city.

The improvisation performances experience nowadays a worldwide invigoration, they become more and more appreciated in Romania where new groups dedicate themselves to theatrical play without a prior stage direction, building scenes, monologues, dialogues, stories based on suggested themes such as: human behaviour, society, jobs and others.

FIFITUT is an event conceived in order to popularize the improvisation show amongst the young public which is more receptive to interactive ways of artistic expression.

During FIFITUT, improvisation workshops will be organised as well, conducted by specialists from France that will train the competitors with the newest specific techniques.

After the competition, a jury formed of personalities of Francophone institutions, will decide who the best competitors are. They will be rewared by the Embassy of France in Romania with trips to Avignon, in occasion of the Theatre Festival, and to Paris.

FIFITUT is organised with the support of the office for Central and Eastern Europe of the Francophone University Agency, French Cultural Centre of Timisoara.
