Song of Myself
I Celebrate myself, and sing myself..
..Creeds and schools in abeyance,
Retiring back a while sufficed at what they are, but
never forgotten,
I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard..
The atmosphere is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation
it is odorless,
It is for my mouth forever, I am in love with it,
I will go to the bank by the wood and become
undisguised and naked..
[La paraul din marginea padurii ma voi duce,
sa fiu gol si neprefacut..]
I believe in you my soul..
I pass death with the dying and birth with the new-wash'd babe,
and am not contain'd between my hat and boots..
I come and I depart..
I am of old and young, of foolish as much as the wise..
In all people I see myself..
I know I am solid and sound,
To me the converging objects of the universe perpetually flow,
All are written to me, andI must get what the writing means.
I know I am deathless..
I know I am august,
I do not trouble my spirit to vindicate itself or be understood..
I am the poet of the Body and the poet of the Soul
The pleasures of heaven are with me and the pains of hell are with me..
Dazzling and tremendous how quik the sun-rise would kill me,
If I could not now and always send sun-rise out of me..
Walt Whitman
