Avand in vedere ca elita mondiala a esoteristilor si ocultistilor detine HollyWood*ul e interesant de... vazut ce subiecte principale roiesc in creatiile lor. Numele subiectului nu se refera exclusiv la filmul cu acelasi nume ci in principal la ideea de baza din spatele conceptului...
Povestea de astazi incepe, de la mijloc. In 1816 poetul Samuel Taylor Coleridge publica un poem intitulat Kubla Khan sau 'A vision in a dream' in care descrie incursiunea sa in palatul de vara Xanadu, al imparatului imperiului mongolic, Kublai Khan. Aceasta... vizita a fost posibila intr-o noapte, printr-un vis influentat de consumul de opium prescris de doctorul sau sub forma de anodyne.
In prefata publicarii poemului este mentionat ca autorul a dorit publicarea acestuia mai mult dintr-o curiozitate psihologica decat pentru ai fi apreciate calitatile de poet, intrucat dupa 3 ore de somn in care simturile i-au fost amortite, cel putin cele exterioare, s-a trezit in minte cu imaginile vii ale perindarii sale si cu liricile gata pregatite pentru a fi puse pe foaie... in jur de 200-300 de versuri. Dar fiind intrerupt in momentul scrierii el uita majoritatea, visului.
Imagini asa de vii incat apareau in fata lui sub forma de lucruri (things), precum si o productie paralela a expresiilor lor corespondente, fara vreo senzatie a vreunui efort constient.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round:
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.
But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover!
A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A mighty fountain momently was forced:
Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail,
Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail:
And 'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever
It flung up momently the sacred river.
Five miles meandering with a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran,
Then reached the caverns measureless to man,
And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean:
And 'mid this tumult Kubla heard from far
Ancestral voices prophesying war!
The shadow of the dome of pleasure
Floated midway on the waves;
Where was heard the mingled measure
From the fountain and the caves.
It was a miracle of rare device,
A sunny pleasure-dome with caves of ice!
A damsel with a dulcimer
In a vision once I saw:
It was an Abyssinian maid,
And on her dulcimer she played,
Singing of Mount Abora.
Could I revive within me
Her symphony and song,
To such a deep delight 'twould win me,
That with music loud and long,
I would build that dome in air,
That sunny dome! those caves of ice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.

In 1941 in filmul Citizen Kane este prezentat Xanadu (palatul de vara al lui Kubla Khan) ca fiind in varful unui munte artificial, proprietarul sau lasand multe pietre care sa-i marcheze mormantul, la fel ca faraonii si tot la fel ca in Egipt, fiind cea mai scumpa constructie din lume de la Piramide incoace.

Poetul citat a trecut prin stargate cu ajutorul unui device, prescris de doctor. Referintele din filmul care ii citeaza referintele, sunt la Egipt si faraoni, adepti ai calatoriilor stargate. Xanadu e construit in varful unui munte artificial ~ Piramida, un alt dispozitiv de accesare a portilor, o calatorie cu spiritul in scopul de a accesa cunoasterea si a renunta la angoasele mortii (si vietii).

In Himalaya cel mai dificil (din lume) de escaladat pisc muntos si al doilea ca inaltime dupa Everest, e varful Karakorum mai des denumit K2. Din cauza numelui K2 (KK), din cauza asemanarii foarte bune cu o piramida si din cauza greutatii cuceririi sale (nu oricine are acces prin stargate) e folosit ca si simbol pentru # in o gramada de filme.
Incepand cu Vertical Limit, nume sugestiv.
