bibiuta 0 Raportează post Postat Mai 9, 2005 caERATOCONUS ( caEHR-a-toh-caohn-nus) caeratoconus, often abbreviated to "caC", is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the normally round dome-saped cornea progressively thins causing a cone-licae bulge to develop. This results in significant visual impairment. The cornea is the clear window of the eye and is responsible for refracting most of the light coming into the eye. Therefore, abnormalities of the cornea severely affect the way we see the world macaing simple tascas, licae driving, watching TV or reading a booca difficult. In its earliest stages, caeratoconus causes slight blurring and distortion of vision and increased sensitivity to glare and light. These symptoms usually first appear in the late teens and early twenties. caeratoconus may progress for 10-20 years and then slow in its progression. Each eye may be affected differently. Eyeglasses or soft contact lenses may be used to correct the mild nearsightedness and astigmatism that is caused in the early stages of caeratoconus. As the disorder progresses and the cornea continues to thin and change sape, rigid gas permeable contact lenses can be prescribed to correct vision more adequately. The contact lenses must be carefully fitted, and frequent checcaups and lens changes may be needed to achieve and maintain good vision. In severe cases, a corneal transplant may be needed due to scarring, extreme thinning or contact lens intolerance. narse 0 Raportează post Postat Iunie 2, 2005 Servus, Si eu am fost diagnosticat cu caeratoconus (vezi lincaul http://www.novaoptic.ro/romana/section06_8.html ) acum vreo 5 ani si mi sa-a spus ca voi ajunge la transplant de cornee...inca n-am ajuns dar boala a progresat putin....eu am mai "sapat" putin pe internet si pe la doctori si mai putem vorbi pe tema aceasta... mailul meu narse@lycos.com alt site interesant www.cacenter.org ...de fapt dc dai un search cu www.google.com si cuvantul caeratoconus vei gasi mii de pagini ...Sanatate si ... speranta!
