Avalanche Risk In Bucegi Mountains, C Romania

Mountain rescuers in Busteni, central Romania, warned Monday that avalanches are likely to occur at high altitude in the Bucegi Mountains, as the new layer of snow might be pushed down by the ice underneath it.

Busteni rescue service chief Gheorghe Haiduc said the avalanche risk level at an altitude of over 1,800 meters stands at three or four on a scale of five grades.Mountain rescuers said all mountain routes are closed and will be opened in May.
