BUCHAREST / 19:54, 1.07.2008 Romanian President Traian Basescu on Tuesday urged the government and the parties not to respond with populist measures to the recent price increases of food products and energy, the presidency said in a statement.Basescu, alongside representatives of the parliament parties discussed a package of measures to counter the impact higher prices will have on the people with low income, without negatively affecting inflation, the statement noted.
