Pidgin is a free multi-protocol instant messaging client that can log in to multiple accounts on multiple IM networks at the same time. You can talk to your friends on Yahoo Messenger, chat on AOL Instant Messenger and sit in an IRC channel simultaneously. The application is compatible with AIM (Oscar and TOC protocols), ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, and Zephyr networks. It comes with a few interesting features such as Buddy Punces (notifies you, sends message, play sound or runs a program when the buddy returns from idle or signs back in), and plugins (text replacement, buddy ticker, extended message notification, iconify on away status). This version comes with a new interface. The buddy list can be viewed in Basic or Advanced mode and the most important functions have been moved from the preferences windows to their own panes.
