Avast Free Antivirus has made great improvements with this new version. It has a modern security suite and a new, unconventional but usable interface. The installation process is very simple and quick in comparison with other similar free products such as AVG, but a little bit slower that installing paid antivirus programs like Trend Micro, Kaspersky, Norton. The installation doesn't require a reboot and the uninstall tool leaves the Registry and the desktop clean. The major modifications of the interface are the removal of Windows Explorer-like forward and backward buttons and the lighter gray in the color scheme. It now has an Additional Protection tab for the new AutoSandbox and WebRep feature controls. The Troubleshooting sections come with a restore option that allows you to get back to the initial settings or to restore only the Shields settings. When it comes to results, Avast remains one of the best free security programs. It doesn't slow down your system and doesn't affect the performances when it comes to startup, shutdown or speed scan.
