The Mistress of Spices is a drama romance film directed by Paul Mayeda Berges. It is based on the novel of the same name by Chitra Banerjee Divakurni.

The action of the film revolves around Tilo (Aishwarya Rai), an immigrant from India who owns a shop in the San Francisco Bay Area. We find out that Tilo is also a clairvoyant and a mistress of spices, as the spices she sells to her customers help them relieve their pain and satisfy their desires.

One day, her life turns upside down when a man on a motorcycle has an accident outside her shop. Tilo takes care of his wounds while ignoring the obvious attraction between them. They fall in love but the spices are jealous and a series of misfortunes start to occur.
