Details
The Ides of March is an American political drama film directed by George Clooney. The film is an adaptation of Farragut North play by Beau Willimon.
Stephen Meyers (Ryan Gosling) is the campaign manager for Mike Morris (George Clooney), Governor of Pennsylvania and a Democratic presidential candidate. The Campaign Manager of Morris' opposer, Tom Duffy, requests Meyers for a secret meeting. Meyers calls his boss, Paul Zara (Philip Seymour Hoffman) but he doesn't answer, so Meyers leaves him a message saying that something important has come up.
Meanwhile, Meyers meets Tom Duffy, who offers Meyers a position in Senator Pullman's campaign. Meyers refuses, stating that he strongly believes in Morris. Duffy tells Meyers that in the end, he will learn that Morris is nothing but a corrupt and cynical candidate.
Later on, Zara calls Meyers back, concerned about the phone message, but Meyers says that there was nothing important and that he doesn't have to worry about it. The idealistic Meyers is shocked by the dirty politics of the campaign.
