Details
Le Maginifique is a french espionage comedy movie starring Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Paul Belmondo. The story centers on Francois Merlin (Jean-Paul Belmondo), a type writer of espionage novels. Almost half of the action plays in his imagination where he portrays himself as Bob Sinclair, a world-renowned superspy.
His neighbour, Christine (Jacqueline Bisset) is a sociology student who is interested in Merlin's novels. In his imagination, Cristine becomes Tatiana, his mistress. Merlin's publisher, Piere Charron (Vittorio Caprioli) becomes Karpov, the villain of the novel, an Albanian secret services agent who threatens to cut off one of tatiana's breasts.
Christine feels very attracted to Bob Sinclair. The character is the exact opposite of his creator, as Merlin is an awkward, incompetent man. In spite of Charron's bad attitude towards his writer and his persistent attempts in seducing her, Christine leaves him. Merlin's challenge is to get rid of his character and his imaginated life and live his own life, as it is.
