La Vita e Bella (Life Is Beautiful) is an Italian film directed by Roberto Benigni. It tells the story of Guido Orefice (Roberto Benigni), an Italian jewish who tries to make as easier as possible for his family during their captivity in a Nazi concentration camp.

Guido, a young Italian Jew meets a beautiful local school teacher, Dora (Nicoletta Braschi), with whom he falls in love. He steals her away at her engagement party from her aristocratic fiance si marries her. They have a son, Giosue, but their lives are turned upside down when World War II begins and Guido, his uncle Eliseo and Giosue are taken to a Nazi concentration camp.
