Il Gattopardo is an Italian film directed by Luchino Visconti based on the homonymous novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.

The action is set in the 19th Century, when Fabrizio Corbero, The Prince of Salina (Il Gattopardo - Burt Lancaster) tries to preserve his family, his prestige and his nobility despite a dying aristocracy in the Sicilian landscape of the 1860s.

His nephew Tancredi (Alain Delon) however marries Don Calogero Sedara's daughter Angelica (Claudia Cardinale), assuring his position in the high society.
