Habemus Papam is a 2011 italian drama. The title is inspired by the famous Latin phrase used to announce the new elected pope. Cardinal Melville (Michel Piccoli) is elected as the new pope against his wish. At the time of the public announcement, the new pope has a panic attack and refuses to appear at the balcony in front of the croud, as is customary.

While the spokesman manages to elude the press and reports that the new pope felt the need to pray before appearing in front of the world, Cardinal Melville deepens into depression.
