Circumstance tells the story of Atafeh and Shireen, two 16-year-old girls dealing with their sexuality, their desires and the boundaries set by the world they were born into. The action is set in contemporary Iran, portraying the unseen Iranian youth culture, filled with hidden parties, sex, drugs and alcohol.

Atafeh and her brother Mehran were born in a privileged family, surrounded by art and music. Atafeh and her friend Shireen dream of fame and adventure and explore the hidden  challenges of Tehran, while Mehran comes back home from rehab and fills his life with destructive obsessions.
