Balada triste de trompeta (The Last Circus) is a Spanish film directed by Alex de la Iglesia. The action is set during the 1930s, when a happy clown is recruited to serve in the Civil War in Spain. He kills the entire platoon with a machete.

In 1973, happy clown's son, Javier wants to follow his father's career and become a clown. Unfortunately, he is to miserable to become the happy clown and he receives instead the role of the Sad Clown. Javier falls in love with Natalia, acrobat and wife of Sergio, the happy clown.

A love triangle results and the two clowns engage in an bloodcurdling battle with one another.
