Willard (Martin Sheen) is sent to kill the renegade Special Forces Colonel Walter E. Kurtz (Marlon Brando).
The US Army special operation officer Captain Willard is sent to Vietnam to carry out a mission that officially doesn't exist. He has to find Walter Kurtz, a Green Beret Colonel presumed insane, and eliminate him. Willard is sent up the Nung river in a US Navy patrol boat and realizes that Kurtz is one of the most decorated officers of the United States Army.
He meets Lt-Colonel Kilgore, who helps Willer and his crew. His journey is full of dangerous encounters, some of his crew members are killed but eventually he finds Kurtz's outpost.
