My dear friend,
Getting a visa implies a lot of conditions and to be realistic it is hard that someone, a stranger, that doesn't know you to take such responsibility.
I think the best way is to ask your Romanian friend to help you in this problem.
The link below offers detailed info for your friend on getting a visa for Romania.

Good luck!

not really related, but not entirely unrelated, either:
i just found out in what great country i live... apparently, it takes a foreigner 8 (eight!!!) years of residency in romania in order to be able to apply for the romanian citizenship. canada only requires 5, for instance. we're so much better!

From all I know, we got Chinese (either poor enough to work for little money or rich enough to gamble; and then, of course, there's the Chinese Mob...), Arabs (it's evasive, I know...) and Greeks, mainly coming here to study, especially Medicine; Africans (don't know the countries, but Congo is one of them); lately, Ucrainian students come here to study, especially in Bucharest... That's all I know.
Well, they deserve to be punished for having such a crazy idea...

i have a friend from serbia, he is studying arts here in timisoara; he has finished uni and is studying for he's master's degree. i don't know whether he has any romanian relatives, anyways his parents are both serbian but he speaks romanian very well. i met him one day and he was coming from the police office, had been there to prolongue his staying permit. i asked him why he fussed and why he didn't apply for citizenship, since i think he plans to stay here anyway and that would simplify things. he said he would, but is not allowed yet
